About The Founder -
Dr. Robert Neal

Dr. Robert Neal began his career as a physical education teacher in Sydney Australia in 1980. In 1982, he studied for his Master’s degree (in Biomechanics) at the University of Queensland, Australia. It was at this time Robert’s passion for golf really ignited: so much so, that it determined his thesis topic, 3D Kinematics and Kinetics of the Golf Swing (only one other person worldwide had completed this type of analysis of a golfer!). In 1984, Robert was granted a Commonwealth Scholarship to complete his PhD in Biomechanics. The focus of the research this time was on "segment interactions" in throwing activities. Over the past 20 years, a common theme has permeated much of Robert’s research with the focus being on the game about which he has become passionate – Golf!

The Range of Research Topics Have Included:
• 3D golf swing analysis
• Muscle activation patterns during the swing (novice-expert differences)
• Club head design and its impact on ball flight and landing
• Optimal swing patterns (driven by appropriate muscle models)
• Segment interactions in the swing (how motion of one body part affects other parts)

Rob in action at Caves Valley Club (Baltimore, Maryland) 2004

Currently a scratch marker, Rob has played golf as a high level amateur for 20 years. Thus, the concatenation of his experiences (research and playing) ideally places Robert in a position to analyze and comment on golf swing technique.
